Automatic Marine Mammal Monitor

Deep Vision's Automatic Marine Mammal Monitor (AHAB) is an automatic whale spotting technology for aerial and surface level platforms. The technology uses electro optical sensors to provide persistent situational awareness for the detection and continuous monitoring of marine mammals. AHAB provides real-time feedback of marine mammal counts, geolocation, proximity to vessels, and heading. The technology uses passive sensors that do not emit signals, avoiding interference with animal behavior, and is deployable from manned and unmanned aerial vehicles and ship masts.

Use Cases

  • Scientific monitoring
  • Environmental monitoring for offshore industry

Features

  • Automatically detect marine mammals at sea in real-time
  • Passive data collection (visible and thermal bands) does not disturb mammals
  • Passive ranging to locate targets with GPS positioning
  • Camera agnostic system for easy integration
  • Continuous 24 hour operational capability
  • Robust performance in harsh weather conditions such as rain, mist, fog, sea-spray, cloud and sun glare
  • Robust performance in sea states spanning calm to choppy
  • Output detailed log file and saves clips of detections
  • No training required
  • Low SWaP-C (Raspberry PI, ODROID)
